The Eucharist

The Eucharist is the sacrament in which Catholics believe that Jesus Christ becomes truly present in the consecrated host and wine.

Transubstantiation

The Catholic Church teaches that during the Mass, when the priest repeats Jesus' words from the Last Supper and invokes the Holy Spirit, the bread and wine are changed into the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. This profound and holy change is called transubstantiation.

The Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ's true presence, through which Catholics receive Jesus himself as spiritual nourishment.

Biblical Foundation

“This is my Body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my Blood, which is poured out for many. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
