The Holy Rosary

The Holy Rosary is a beautiful Catholic prayer that helps us meditate on the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of His mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is both a prayer and a reflection on the mysteries of our salvation.

As St. Padre Pio said: “The Rosary is the weapon for these times.”

What Is the Rosary?

The Rosary combines vocal prayers with meditation on important events in the lives of Jesus and Mary, called Mysteries.

When we pray the Rosary, we:

• Praise God.

• Ask for Mary’s intercession.

• Reflect on the Gospel.

• Grow closer to Jesus.

Main Prayers of the Rosary

1. Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

2. Apostles’ Creed

A profession of faith in God.

3. Our Father

The prayer Jesus taught His disciples.

4. Hail Mary

A prayer based on Scripture (Luke 1:28, 42).

5. Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit...

6. Fatima Prayer (optional)

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell...

How to Pray the Holy Rosary

1. Make the Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

2. Pray the Apostles’ Creed

On the Crucifix.

3. Pray the Our Father

On the first large bead.

4. Pray 3 Hail Marys

On the next three small beads: 1st for Faith, 2nd for Hope, 3rd for Charity (Love).

5. Pray the Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit...

The Five Decades

Announce the Mystery, pray the Our Father on the large bead, pray 10 Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery, pray the Glory Be, and pray the Fatima Prayer optionally.

For example: “The First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation.” Repeat these steps for all 5 Mysteries.

Why Catholics Pray the Rosary

The Rosary is not worship of Mary. Catholics worship God alone. Mary leads us to Jesus, just as she did at Cana when she said: “Do whatever he tells you.” (John 2:5)

The Rosary helps us:

• Grow in faith.

• Deepen our relationship with Christ.

• Find peace in difficult times.

• Pray for ourselves and others.

• Reflect on the Gospel every day.

Scripture & Prayer Verses

A Beautiful Rosary Scripture Verse

“Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.” (Luke 1:45)

And for prayer:

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)

Concluding Prayers

After the Fifth Decade

Pray the Hail Holy Queen: Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope...

Concluding Prayer

O God, whose Only Begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection...

A Closing Blessing

May the Rosary draw you closer to Jesus through the loving guidance of His Blessed Mother.

May your prayer bring spiritual sustenance, peace, and renewed hope to you and your community.
