What Catholics Believe

Catholics believe that God created every person out of love and calls all people into a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Our faith is rooted in Scripture and Sacred Tradition.

The Nicene Creed

The Nicene Creed is the definitive statement of the Christian faith. It summarizes our belief in one God—the Father Almighty, Jesus Christ His only Son, and the Holy Spirit, the giver of life. Rooted in the Council of Nicaea (325 AD), it remains the spiritual anchor for the Church, articulating our shared conviction in the mystery of the Trinity, the Incarnation, and the hope of life everlasting.

The Holy Trinity

The Father

God the Father is the First Person of the Trinity, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, who calls all humanity into a loving covenant.

The Son

Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity, true God and true man, who became incarnate to save us and reveal the Father's love.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, the Giver of Life, who sanctifies the Church and dwells in the hearts of the faithful.

Catholics believe that God created every person out of love and calls all people into a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Every human life is sacred and possesses an inherent dignity that comes from being created in the image and likeness of God.

Creation & Dignity

The Church Founded by Christ

Catholics believe that the Church is not merely a human organization, but the mystical Body of Christ, established by Jesus himself to continue his mission of salvation. For over 2,000 years, the Church has preserved the Sacred Tradition and Scripture handed down by the Apostles.

One: The Church is one, just as there is one Lord and one Faith.

Holy: She is holy because Christ, her founder, is holy.

Catholic: Meaning 'universal', spanning all times and places.

Apostolic: Built on the foundation of the Apostles and their successors.

Eternal Life

Heaven

The state of supreme, definitive happiness in perfect communion with God and all the blessed in Jesus Christ.

Hell

The state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God, reserved for those who refuse to love God and turn away from Him.

Purgatory

A state of final purification for those who die in God’s grace but still need to be cleansed of imperfections before entering Heaven.

Eternal Life

The promise of Resurrection and everlasting life with the Holy Trinity, where God will be 'all in all' for those who are saved.

The Catholic faith rests upon the two pillars of Divine Revelation: Sacred Scripture, the written Word of God, and Sacred Tradition, the living transmission of the Gospel through the Church. Together, they form a single sacred deposit of faith, handed down through the centuries to guide the faithful toward Christ.
