The Passion, Death, and Resurrection

Redemptive effect: His death destroys the power of sin and reconciles humanity to God.
3. The Resurrection
- Triumph and New Creation. The Resurrection is the transformation of human nature:
- Death is conquered once and for all
- Jesus is vindicated as Lord and Messiah
- The firstborn of the dead, the pattern of our own resurrection
- New life in the Spirit poured out upon the Church
Redemptive effect: Humanity is lifted into the possibility of eternal life; death no longer has dominion.
One Unified Mystery
The Passion, Death, and Resurrection form one saving act. The Cross without Resurrection is tragedy; the Resurrection without the Cross is triumph without sacrifice. Together they reveal the full arc of salvation: Christ loves, Christ suffers, Christ dies, Christ rises — and humanity is redeemed.
Through His Passion, Death, and Resurrection, Christ conquers sin and death, restores humanity to God, and opens the way to eternal life.
